I am thankful for *Steve. *Steve is my second oldest child and he has been a blessing since the first day we met. He came into our family a little differently than the others, but all the same, he is my son.
*Steve has taught me a lot. He has taught me humor…and to keep looking on the bright side of things. He is always willing to offer a hug when I really need it…even when I am NOT in the mood to receive it.
*Steve came into our life on February 9, 2007. He was a scared and confused young man. I don’t blame him. He was just removed from the only family he knew and placed in a crazy family like ours.
I watched *Steve change in many ways. As he slimmed down…he grew in faith. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and has continued to grew in faith. We were blessed to have him permanently join our family in January of 2010.
I believe *Steve has also taught me some patience. His humor can some times be questionable…LOL. I remember that our Valentine’s Dinner at church had been delayed for some reason and it was two weeks after his arrival that we attended. After the dinner, he pushed back his chair and announced in front of everyone “That’s the best meal I have had in two weeks!”
Yeh…
There has been many more humorous times over the years…many.
But I am thankful that he has accepted us as his family. I know that it is a hard transition for a child…more so for one who is a teenager.
While we are not a perfect family…we are a family and we love each other.
I am proud of *Steve. He loves the Lord and he is following his calling. He is a hard worker. He knows the value of hard work and he doesn’t expect a free ride. He is working hard and going to college.
And he continues to humor me.
His favorite joke…, “Mom, I think I’m adopted…”
