I am Thankful #3

My second born child and my third oldest. Figure that one out. LOL.

Flannel Boy surprises me everyday. He has this ruff and gruff persona but he is really a kind hearted young man. His favorite phrase to just about anyone is, “I own you!”  His brothers take great delight in throwing that back at him when he messes up.

But Flannel Boy has a true sense of right and wrong. I believe he has the gift of discernment. He is blunt and tells you like it is. Most of the time he comes off as rude…but I know his heart.

Last night I was taking one of the kids to a birthday party and left him with the three youngest. Anyone who has been at my house and has watched me try to leave without them knows what it is like. They all go NUTS. Baby Girl and Lil Bambino were hysterical. Thankfully Lil Bambino was strapped into his high chair and couldn’t get out. But Baby Girl was screaming (while running around putting away all of her play dough stuff and trying to find her boots).

I was trying to get out the door and she wasn’t having any of it. I know that if I wait and let her get her hug and kiss, she is okay. She finally accepted that she wasn’t going and let me out the door.

I was gone less than a half hour. When I walked in the door, there was Flannel Boy at the table putting together a Lizzy McGuire puzzle with Baby Girl and Lil Miss. Lil Bambino was in his high chair with spaghetti sauce all over his face and a huge grin.

Now this is my mas macho boy who is a true country boy and likes to participate in MMA (mixed martial arts). I was surprised to see him putting a “girly” puzzle together…

I am thankful that he can be so loving to his siblings…even though no one would expect it from the way he talks.

I am thankful that he has a strong sense of right and wrong and doesn’t let peer pressure to sway him.

I am also thankful that he has dreams and he is working to achieve those. I am thankful that he has plans to go to college.
