We think of our teachers as "teachers" rather than people. You believe that they are always going to be in that class room anytime you show up. So when my oldest daughter called to say she was retiring and wanted to go she her, I was shocked. Big Girl called to take her younger brothers with her...so sweet...LOL.
All three of my little monsters with Ms. Leman!
She has a God given talent for teaching. She is the most kind compassionate teacher that I have ever met. I pray that the Hoagland community can find someone who has at least a pinch of Ms. Leman's ability!
And I might add....she LOOKS THE SAME....over 13yrs later from when she taught Big Girl!!!!
Here is something I found online....shows how awesome she is!!
“Super-Sizing” sentences in first gradeFirst grade teacher Ruth Leman (Hoagland Elementary School) has gotten her students to beef up their writing by challenging them to “super size” their sentences. First, she acquired a large and small fry holder from three different fast food restaurants to use as visual aids. Then, she encouraged her students to “super-size” sentences just like the restaurants “super-size” their fries. For example, “The baby is crying” became “The tiny baby is crying because they are making very loud noises.” Not only did Ruth create a bulletin board of the students’ sentences, but she regularly refers to the large and small fry holders she clipped onto the board. Everyone wants to have a “super-sized” sentence now, so they can put the large fry holder on it! The children apply the analogy when they write.
