Vacation Highlights # 1

The Drive

Day 1

Since I had an "incident" with the deer a week or so earlier, we had to borrow my mom's little compact car to drive to Florida. So we had two cars. In DH's car, there was: Flannel Boy, Baby Girl, Lil Bambino, and Little Miss.
In my car: Missionary Boy, Miss Priss and Lil' Monster.
The idea was for the "new" kiddos in the family to get to know each other better and bond over the LONG drive.
Let's just say our day started out way to early.
I sent the kids to bed about 8-9PM. But Little Miss did not get her night time medication (per doctor instruction) and she NEVER went to sleep! The plan was to get up at 4:30AM to leave. But every hour ON the HOUR she would walk into our room and ask if it was time to leave. Needless to say...I was tired!
We pulled out of the drive about 5:20AM and we didn't forget ANYTHING! Woot woot! Packing for 9 people, that is an accomplishment for me!

Now if anyone knows me (in RL), I do NOT like to stop for anything but gas...Now DH is different. He needs to stop and get snacks, souvenirs and whatnot...drives me insane. But driving my mom's little car, the tank only held 12 gallons of gas...YES I SAID TWELVE!! So every 4 hours we were stopping for gas. Which worked out I guess. We didn't have any kids (20 months-18yrs) begging to go to the bathroom. They did awesome. Every time we stopped they got a snack and drink and potty time.

 We drove until we hit Macon, Georgia...DH is arguing with me on what time that was. He thinks it was 11PM...but it wasn't...it was still daylight and time for dinner. We tried to get in at the Hampton Inn, but they were totally booked. We found rooms at Comfort Suites. The rooms were okay, but it smelled like they had just bombed the place. Of course DH got his flashlight out and inspected the beds and furniture. We will not be taking any visitors home with us!
 

We had to get two rooms because we have to many kids...LOL

The boys got a room and the girls got a room. Thankfully they were next to each other with an adjoining door. Only Baby Girl insisted on sleeping with Daddy and Daddy insisted Lil Bambino sleep in the girl's room so he didn't get woken up...joke was on him. Baby Girl slapped and kicked him all night and Lil Bambino slept soundly!

 Lil Bambino thought it was so cool to run around and not be in that car seat!

I got a GREAT nights sleep. When my head it the pillow, I was done!

The next morning Baby Girl's hair was one hot mess. Totally matted.

Then we were off again!

We switched up the kids. I got Missionary Boy, Little Miss and Lil Bambino.

Dh got Flannel Boy, Miss Priss and Lil Monster. 

 Let me tell you...this is what he did...as long as the car was moving...it was great.

I was the "lead" car all the way there and back. I was proud of DH...he actually DROVE part of the way there! I was totally shocked. He drove a little over 400 miles before he insisted Flannel Boy drive...now out of the 2800+ miles...I drove my car MYSELF....LOL...
