Product Review

Today's review is the Kirby Sentria vacuum and carpet shampooing system.

I purchased this machine from a very dynamic young man. Have to give him credit for a well preformed presentation. Who could pass up an offer to clean your carpets for free? Am I right?

Awww, come on!  [as Lil Miss would say]

At the time, we had a very dark hunter green carpet. I loved the color. You could never tell if they were dirty as long as they were swept. So when this young man brought his contraption over and showed us how dirty our carpets were (using the vacuum) and then cleaning them...I was impressed.

We were in the market for a new vacuum and DH was determined to get a Kirby. The guy absolutely loves vacuum cleaners and has to try new ones out all the time.

S'rsly!

He sold the Rainbow systems when he was younger. He bought "The Pig" (TriStar) when my sister sold them and then we...or I bought the Kirby.

I'll tell you why I bought the Kirby...because when DH bought "The Pig" he locked it in his den and no one was allowed to use it but him! No joke....and I didn't find it funny at all. So I made it a point to be the one to purchase the next vacuum cleaner.

Anyway...back to the review.

I haven't had the need to shampoo my carpets because we vacuum several times a day and we have a extractor that cleans up spots. But the other day Lil Bambino pulled a stunt that required the carpets to be shampooed.

The little brat Lil Bambino is in the stage of smearing poo  where he does not like a dirty diaper but not ready for potty training. Whenever he pees, he likes to rip off his diaper. So while I thought he was taking a nap, he ripped off the wet diaper after he emptied his sock drawer and shoved it in a drawer.

Unfortunately, he had a bowel movement...I am trying to avoid being graphic...and thought it would be fun to smear it on three of his four walls, the dresser, toys, table and chairs and his bed and his WHITE CARPET! Not to mention the pile of socks that he had previously removed from the drawer.

Usually I hear him when he wakes from his nap. He USUALLY gets out of bed and plays with his trucks and blocks. Thankfully he didn't get into the block box!

So as soon as I opened the door the smell about knocked me down, I knew what I was going to see. I was so disgusted that I just grabbed him and put him in the tub. He got a good scrubbing head to toe. Then I tried tackling the room.

Flannel Boy put the shampooing parts onto the Kirby and I started shampooing the carpet.

Let me tell you how this works. It sprays out a "dry foam"...it isn't dry...then it kinda sucks it back up into this rectangle tray on the front. That's it.

All I had was dirty water and some hair. (Gross I know). But now I have wet poopy smeared carpets. Not a happy person here.

I go and get the extractor. This thing usually works great. But we haven't used it before to clean up poop. Vomit and pee, yes. Poop, no. So I start scrubbing...and all it is doing is smearing it into the carpet, turning it brown to the bottom. So now I am getting really ticked.

It is hot upstairs, I am sweating and poo is getting slung up on me and the carpet is getting worse stains.

So what is left? I will tell you...a good ole fashion TOOTHBRUSH!

Yes, I scrubbed a 11x14 room with a toothbrush!

The carpet is now clean and no stains.

And after that...if I were a drinking woman...I would have had me a cold one kicked back in a nice hot bath...

Instead...I took a nice long hot shower.

Now Lil Bambino is going to have a Onsie on for nap or I will Duct Tape his diaper on him.
