A Typical Day in the Life of Foster/Adoption

Today started off rather well and ended in "You don't love me, I should just pack my bags and go back to -----'s house".

Hmmmm....like I haven't heard THAT one before! {usually it is a threat to move to grandma's house}

To give you a little back ground...I have been dealing with a lot of behaviors with this particular child through out the day and "said child" was currently "assigned" to the kitchen so that I could keep a visual on "said child".

Typical behaviors have been:
  • Terrorizing the dog. (who thankfully is very docile and just runs and hides)
  • Peeing in their pants outside because they didn't want to come inside from playing.
  • Pulling the curtains down in the bedroom and bending the brackets and curtain rod. (that needs replacing now)
  • Putting objects in their pants (I think just to gross out everyone else).
  • Invading every one's personal space to the point that the obnoxiousness had "said child's" sibling slap them across the face (with no reaction from "said child")
  • Intentionally climbing on some one's lap to fart on them.
  • Taking a much younger sibling into another room to "play" only to hear a thump and scream from younger child and "said child" saying "oops". (This is were the line of sight came in while I was fixing dinner.)
So I gave the younger sibling a treat since they had a nice bump on the head and no longer felt like "playing". This did NOT make "said child" happy in the least.

While fixing dinner I heard the ranting of "said child":

Why does "baby" get a treat? All he does is break stuff, poops his pants all day and cries all the time! He doesn't do ANYTHING right but you give him hugs and kisses and tell him that you love him. You don't love me! You don't hug and kiss me or tell me that you love me! (Which said child does receive hugs and kisses all through out the day and told they are loved.)

I just had to smile. I am use to this. After having over 30 children...I got this! LOL!

Bring it honey...I am ready!

Yes...baby boy does cry all day, poops all day and breaks things...does "nothing" right and I still love him...just as I love you. You don't have to be perfect for me to love you.

Wow! Do I know that feeling. Tonight I was in tears because of the disrespect I was dealing with tonight. You would think I would be better able to grin and bear it; but no I ended up crying like a baby tonight.

Oh, I have those days as well. Mostly I make everyone go to their rooms for "quiet time" while I go to mine and lock the door and read until I am okay enough to deal with it again.
