Doctor Appointments

I had a doctor's appoinment today. Since I have Hashimoto's Disease (fancy for saying my thyroid is all outta whack) I am suppose to have my blood work done every 3 months...

Have you ever noticed how you feel the need to find a really nice outfit to wear only to find yourself stripped down and handed tissue paper to cover yourself?

What's the point? S'rsly. Why do we bother?

So the nurse is going over my history. I love Nurse Theresa...she knows all about my family and always asks what crazy thing is happening lately. Plus she cheers with me when I get to come without my kids.

Anyway, she asks me when my last PAP was...hmmm. I don't know. I just remember it had been 10 years after my last baby...That would be after my last bio baby...the surprise baby...Lil Monster. So that would be in '07.

Hmmm, I am thinking that was a while ago, right? '07, '08, '09, '10, and now '11...She said I also need to have mammogram since I am old...LOL.

I guess I should schedule that. I do have DH's insurance people calling and sending letters stating that I need to have all these things done to manage my health care.

But isn't that the problem with health care? Getting all these tests all the time when there is nothing wrong with me? I do the self exams...they are just saggy...not lumpy.

I really hate going to the doctor. You have no idea.

Besides that. I always have to have blood drawn. I am suppose to be on a schedule of every three months to monitor my meds for the thyroid thing. Apparently I haven't been there since May of last year.

Maybe because they got rid of the only girl that could take my blood without having to dig a needle in each arm and then decide they have to use my hand.
Today, I thought I was going to be lucky. The lady said she actually felt the spot. (Apparently my veins are very small, run the wrong angle, and are deep...not that the extra layers of padding help that).

So she gets two tubes of blood and is sliding the needle in and out...that instantly causes my vein to crap out...not to mention, who pulles the needle out?? I could see the little hole at the end! Then she wants to check the other arm. I told her to forget it. Go to the hand because if she isn't skilled enough and there is NO WAY she is going to get it out of the other arm.

Believe me. I know from experience.

On a good note...my blood pressure was 104/90. I thought it would be really bad since I had a bad morning with both Lil Miss and Miss Priss.
